How he proposed:
On Halloween, Matt asked me to go on a “Fall Picnic” with him. It was a beautiful day and we had been really busy for the past few weeks with school and work, so I didn’t suspect anything. I thought it was a wonderful idea to get to spend some time together outside on such a pretty day!
We went to Tunica Hills, a place that is known for water falls… also a place we had been to previously and got lost. After assuring me we were not going on the “primitive trail” like last time, I agreed to continue with the hiking/ picnic and we set off for a specific waterfall he wanted to find. The whole time we were walking I offered several times to carry the back pack. He refused, of course, and me not knowing what was in the bag thought he was just being stubborn.
After hiking for a couple of hours, going off the trail, and climbing down to this specific waterfall, we finally arrived at our picnic spot. We explored for a few minutes, found a large rock to sit on, and had lunch. I thought Matt ate faster than I had ever seen him eat, and in minutes he was asking me if I was done, picking up my trash, and stuffing it all back in the backpack. I thought this was strange but I was distracted by the beauty of the area we were at and I didn’t think much of it.
A few minutes later, Matt grabbed the ring from the backpack (hid it in his hand), sat back down on the rock, and began saying some pretty sweet things. I still didn’t see where this was headed, and kept interupting him with my own thoughts thinking this was more of a conversation… not a speech. After I finally stopped talking, Matt got down on one knee and proposed. I finally clued in here…
A few minutes and a lot of tears later, I was asked for the third time if I would marry him… and finally managed to say “yes!”.

I was looking for a husband, and a friend of mine was friends with Muhammad’s parents for years. She realized that he and I were the same age and mentioned to his mother that I was looking for a husband and confirmed that he was unattached. I later found out that, one day after leaving work, Muhammad offered a sincere prayer to find a life partner a week before he met me; after he came home, his mother mentioned that there was someone that she would like for him to meet. His mother later formally introduced us to each other, we exchanged numbers, and things evolved from there! I later found out that Muhammad initially didn’t think we were a good match because even though he felt me to be a “good girl” I came across as quiet, no personality, and “socially awkward”. I couldn’t help it–I thought he was cute!! When he actually got the chance to know me, he found his assessment of me to be completely wrong (all except the good girl part!) and determined I was definitely wife material…his type of wife material!
