"Kevin and I met in a philosophy class on existentialism at SELU our senior year. Our reasons for taking the class were pretty different, I was in agreement with Albert Camus' existential philosophy and Kevin was wanting to become a Catholic priest. After Kevin and I started dating he told me he had said a prayer to St. Joseph for true love if it was meant to be and kept a St. Joseph prayer card by his bed. Around the same time Kevin was praying, I happened to find a St. Joseph card tucked under a dresser drawer. Not knowing where it came from or what to do with it I put it next to my bed. We met a few weeks later. I may have had doubts about the prayer cards, but after Kevin told me St. Joseph was also the patron saint of a happy death everything made sense. A St. Joseph coin was found in my grandfather's pocket when he died and I never knew why until then, he wanted to be with his wife of almost seventy years who had passed away four months before. Realizing the loss of the two people I loved most in the world within months of each other was an answer to a prayer and not some cruel joke, I was finally able to let go of the hurt of losing them and regain my faith. A few months before the wedding I had ordered my veil to be made with my grandparents' birthstones, sapphire and pearl, however the blues used were much lighter than I had expected. The day my veil arrived my mom gave me the bracelet my grandmother was wearing when she passed away, something I had never seen or even knew about until then. When I placed her bracelet next to my veil I cried. The blue beads of the bracelet were the exact same color as the blues used in the veil. We got married on what would have been my grandmother's 100th birthday in the church where my grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After all that, Kevin and I are pretty sure we are meant to be together."
